Close to the southernmost tip of Lesotho, Bidstone sits in the foothills of the majestic Drakensberg Mountains, on the Eastern Cape side. Sheep farming in this area dates back to the late 1800s when descendants of the 1820 Settlers who put ashore at Port Alfred, headed north to find prosperity.
Accommodation in beautifully decorated sandstone cottages in comfort in the extreme, the gardens, featured in Garden and Home (Aug.2001), a delight and the country cooking is scrumptious.
Your host, Allan Isted, lives 300m away from the Bidstone Guest Farm and is on hand to take guests hunting and Bushman - cave walking.
Bidstone’s beautiful sandstone cottages overlook a picturesque trout dam.
Guests can relax in the cosy and comfortable Leon’s Pub before dinner, and enjoy sumptuous meals and farmhouse breakfasts in the farmhouse dining area.
Bidstone Cottages are 19 km from Tiffindell Ski Resort, although a 4x4 is needed to access the resort from the Wartrail side.
